The second in-person meeting of the WISET-KWiSE Global Cross Mentoring Program was held
on July 13 in Palo Alto. Mentors and mentees came together for a meaningful exchange
focused on career exploration and professional growth.
The meeting began with elevator pitches—brief self-introductions of around one minute. This
allowed participants to introduce themselves effectively and ease into networking with one
another. The group also learned practical tips on how to craft and deliver a compelling elevator
pitch.
Additionally, useful strategies and tips for effective communication and networking were shared,
helping participants build confidence to expand their networks. Mentors and mentees had in-
depth discussions based on their individual experiences and goals, creating opportunities for
reflection on personal career paths and exploring actionable next steps.
A particularly engaging part of the session was the discussion about different career paths and
roles across academia, industry, and public sectors. Mentors provided mentees with practical
guidance and insights relevant to their own career journeys.
Overall, the meeting offered both mentors and mentees valuable perspectives and inspiration
for career planning and development. It also raised anticipation for future sessions. Our next
meeting, scheduled for August 17, will provide a deeper opportunity to discuss each
participant’s specific career goals in more detail.

WISET-KWiSE Global Cross Mentoring Program의 두 번째 대면 모임이 7월 13일, 팔로
알토에서 진행되었습니다. 이날 모임에서는 멘토와 멘티들이 직접 만나 진로 탐색과 커리어
개발에 대한 다양한 이야기를 나누며 뜻깊은 시간을 보냈습니다.
모임은 각자의 1분 내외 자기소개를 담은 엘리베이터 피치(elevator pitch)로 시작되었습니다.
참가자들은 이를 통해 서로를 보다 효과적으로 소개하고, 네트워킹의 시작점을 자연스럽게 만들
수 있었습니다. 이어서, 엘리베이터 피치를 어떻게 활용하면 좋은지, 그 요령에 대해서도 함께
알아보았습니다.
또한, 성공적인 커뮤니케이션과 네트워킹을 위한 실질적인 전략과 팁이 공유되어, 다양한
상황에서 자신 있게 소통할 수 있는 역량을 키우는 데 도움이 되었습니다. 멘토와 멘티들은
서로의 경험과 목표를 바탕으로 진지한 대화를 나누며, 각자의 커리어 목표에 대해 성찰하고
구체적인 실행 방향을 모색해보는 시간을 가졌습니다.
이번 모임에서는 특히 지난 6월 모임에서 다뤘던 다양한 커리어 분야(학계, 산업계, 정부 및
공공기관 등)와 직무에 대한 후속 논의가 활발하게 이루어졌습니다. 실질적인 진로 탐색에
도움이 되는 조언과 정보가 오가며, 멘티들에게 실질적인 가이드를 제공해주었습니다.

이번 대면 모임은 멘토와 멘티 모두에게 진로 설정과 커리어 개발에 있어 깊이 있는 통찰과
영감을 제공했으며, 앞으로의 활동에 대한 기대감을 높이는 계기가 되었습니다. 8월 17일에는
각자의 커리어 목표에 대해 더 자세히 이야기를 나눌 기회를 가지려고 합니다.
