2023 KWiSE Joint Annual Symposium by NIH and DC Chapter
The NIH and Washington DC Chapters of the Korean-American Women in Science and Engineering (KWiSE) hosted a joint annual symposium titled “Empowering Global Collaboration & Strategy in the Future of Life Science” on October 27-28, 2023 with KAPAL (Korean-American Professional Association in Life Science) and NIH-KSA (NIH-Korean Scientist Association). The joint symposium by three organizations was informative and synergistic in promoting US-Korea collaborations in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology in life science. The programs on the first day focused on facilitating the exchange of innovative ideas and successful strategies across the healthcare industry with Technology Transfer and agreements and FDA regulation. The second-day program under the “Global Collaboration in Life Science” theme emphasized NIH Clinical Research and Support along with Biomedical Science. Speakers from Korea facilitated global collaborative efforts through the sessions/networking. The symposium introduced many exciting findings, fundamental research, and early discovery in life science. There was a session for successful career development where senior professionals in diverse fields shared experiences and tips. The 2023 joint annual conference by the KWiSE provided a successful example of enhancing mutual US-Korea collaborations for Korean-American scientists in the life science field.
